Our Story

The Michif and Sash Baby Collective is a small family business based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, making soft bamboo blankets, sleepers, hats, bows, and family sets. I'm Brooke the founder, and the mom behind the brand.

My roots run from the Red River settlement through Batoche, Duck Lake, and Prince Albert area to where we are today. Three generations of women in one family, making something for the next.

Becoming a mom changed everything. Holding my boy for the first time, I knew I wanted him to grow up surrounded by who we are; the language, colours, patterns, and stories. Soft bamboo basics made for babies with prairie and Métis elements woven through.

We started with sleepers, and you'll find them in two lines: a pre-set collection of ready-to-ship patterns, and a custom-designed line built around prairie and Métis motifs. Blankets, hats, bows, and family sets are coming soon!

We chose the word collective with purpose. Communities are built on togetherness, and nothing meaningful gets made alone. They truly mean it when they say: "it takes a village."
